The Minted: 3-session course

One-on-one lessons designed to make money concepts simple and practical. This course uses hands-on activities and real-world scenarios to help kids ages 11–14 develop essential financial skills.

SCHEDULE LESSONS
  • Goal: Students will understand key money concepts and be able to use them in everyday life.

    Topics: Income, Expenses, Spend, Save, Budget, Credit, Debit, Debt, Interest, Invest

    Activities:

    • What Would You Do With $1,000? – Explore priorities and decision-making

    • Would You Rather? Money Edition – Introduce trade-offs and planning

    • Money Match – Interactive reinforcement

    Outcome: Students can explain terms in their own words and identify examples of spending, saving, and investing.

  • Goal: Learn how to create a simple budget and plan for financial milestones.

    Topics: Income vs. Expenses, Needs vs. Wants, Saving for Goals, Budgeting Basics

    Activities:

    • “How is money spent?” – Connect real-life spending to budgeting concepts

    • Budget Simulation – Allocate income and adjust for surprise expenses

    • Goal Planning – Outline milestone goals, timeline, and savings strategy

    Outcome: Students practice balancing income and expenses, make trade-offs, and create a personal savings plan."

  • Goal: Understand investing basics; stocks, bonds, diversification, and compound interest.

    Topics: Stocks, Bonds, Index Funds, Diversification, Risk vs. Reward, Compound Interest

    Activities:

    • Stock Market Simulation – Allocate funds across stocks, bonds, and index funds

    • Market Event & News Updates – See how investments fluctuate

    • Real-life Examples – Apple, Nike, Disney, and S&P 500 trends visualized

    Outcome: Students learn the benefits of diversification, understand risk vs. reward, and see how long-term investing can grow wealth.
